The Darrow School girls basketball team brought home the NEPSAC Class E championship trophy Sunday, defeating Hyde 55-44 at Noble and Greenough School. Darrow trailed 37-36 in the third quarter but put together a 19-7 spurt to wrestle control of the game and bring home the program’s first NEPSAC basketball title.
Jabarria Brown led the way with 24 points and seven rebounds, Fatou Thiam brought home game MVP honors by posting 20 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Fatoumata Sonko added eight points and 25 rebounds, and Sydney Layne put the exclamation point on the win by scoring a bucket in the final minute.
The Darrow School boys also took home a NEPSAC title on Sunday, winning the Class D championship with a victory over New York Military Academy. Baye, New England’s game MVP put up 17 points, Boubacar strong in the paint with countless rebounds both on offense and defense added a total of 6 points. Cheikh was guarded hard was able to finish the game with 5 points. Jared and Pablo finished off their senior season this game, Jared with 2 lovely three-pointers and a breakaway layup, and Pablo making 4/7 of his free throw.
